Pandas and the Art of Kung Fu

So I watched Kung Fu Panda just to sort of refresh my memory about the main character, Po. I watched it with my 7 month old niece and it turned out she REALLY loved Po the Panda. When he first came on the screen and began talking she squealed out loud and grinned! I am hoping that the next time I take her to the zoo she will be into the REAL Pandas.

There is one scene in the movie where master, Shi Fu, tells Po that Monkey (Jackie Chan) keeps his cookies on the top shelf in the kitchen just to see if he can make it to the top. It turns out that the scene in the movie is not really that far off. Giant Pandas are AMAZING climbers, so it would be only right that Po would be able to climb up there and get the object of his desire. I have seen our Pandas do amazing things with their climbing skills as well as their teeth and claws.

Our little Po is a hero in his own right. I think Jack Black, who voices Po in the movie, had it right when he said that our little guy was a hero just by surviving. Giant Pandas are such rare and remarkable creatures that to lose them would be such a devestating loss. If we can't save the Giant Panda, what can we save????
